| | wow. it's been over a month and a half...
this is gonna be a short rant entry...on che guevara. well not on him per se because i know very little about him, but on the proliferation of merchandise with his picture on it
i can't really say that i have anything against him, because from the little i know about him, i'm led to beleive he was a passionate man who gave his life to the cause he believed in. i think he died a sad death. but i always see him in t-shirts, bags, buttons, etc. etc. sometimes i'm tempted to stop the wearer in the middle of the street and ask if they even know who the person on their clothing / accessory is and what they know about him. do they know what participation he had in fidel castro's july 26 movement and the cuban revolution? do they even know what the july 26 movement is? do they know that he was not cuban, but argentinian, a marxist and a socialist, and an advocate of guerrilla warfare? in the free world, he's called a communist. (can they even tell me where cuba is? haha!) i am not a believer in marxism, but i don't hate people who are. in fact, i respect people who are extremely passionate about their beliefs. but i get irritated at the thought of those who wear his picture proudly as a design on an accessory and yet don't know what that picture and/or the person stands for. wala lang! ¤ ¤ ¤ ¤ ¤ ¤ ¤ ¤ ¤ ¤
i have a new obsession...the HBO tv show entourage. i love it, i love it, i love it. i looove it. it's shallow and relatively pointles, i know. but it's fun, easy to watch, and i don't need to analyze it. it's been showing here for a while now, but i was never able to catch it in sequence until this past weekend when i was able to watch a marathon of the first 2 seasons. sigh, i'm in love with all of them. i heart entourage. |
